BREAKING: Court Stops Daddy Lumba’s December 13 Funeral

A fresh twist has hit the planned funeral of legendary Highlife icon Daddy Lumba, as an Accra High Court has issued an injunction halting the ceremony scheduled for December 13.
The injunction — filed by his maternal family — also prevents the release of his body from the mortuary until the full case is heard.

Five maternal relatives, including Obaapanyin Afia Adomah Pakoso and Wofa Yaw Poku Asuafua, dragged the case to court on December 3, arguing that customary law gives the maternal lineage full authority over the funeral arrangements.

They claim there’s an attempt by the first defendant, Kofi Owusu Abuakwa of Kumasi (Abusuapanyin), and a previously dissolved committee to take control of the funeral and even operate a family account, which they oppose.

With the court order now in place, the late musician’s final rites remain on hold, leaving fans and family anxious about what happens next.
