Popular Ghanaian actress and TV host Joselyn Dumas has criticised the Food and Drugs Authority’s (FDA) directive banning celebrities from advertising alcoholic beverages, describing the move as unfair and
misplaced. Speaking on Keeping It Real, Dumas argued that alcohol is deeply embedded in the entertainment industry and questioned the logic of restricting celebrity endorsements without addressing alcohol consumption itself. According to her, if the aim is to protect children, then banning endorsements alone is not enough. She stressed that parental responsibility, not celebrity influence, should be the focus of such concerns.
