Gospel singer Anita Afriyie has triggered a social and religious firestorm by openly advising young people to have sex with their partners before marriage to ensure compatibility.
In a video sighted by NKONKONSA.com, in comments that directly challenge church teachings, Afriyie argued that practical experience should outweigh religious prohibitions when choosing a life partner.
“Make sure to have sex with your boyfriend before saying ‘I do,’” the musician stated in a viral video. “If you ‘taste’ your boyfriend, you’ll know whether things work or not. Christians shouldn’t be afraid to practice sex; you won’t die, and God will forgive you after.”
The controversial advice didn’t stop there. Afriyie boldly claimed that many religious leaders don’t practice what they preach when it comes to sexual purity.
“Even pastors have sex with people before marriage and later seek God’s forgiveness,” she asserted. “Your pastor who tells you not to sleep with your man before marriage probably did the same before marrying his wife.”
She characterized Ghanaian men of God as “really hypocrites” on the subject, suggesting that young people should prioritize genuine compatibility over what she described as unrealistic religious expectations.
